Custom Retail Hang Tags
Custom hang tags for fashion, apparel and retail products. Choose paper, size, printing, foil, embossing, debossing, strings and other finishing options.
Custom Hang Tags for Fashion, Apparel and Retail
A hang tag may look simple, but several details affect how it looks and performs in production: paper thickness, finished size, hole position, printing, finishing and the way the tag is attached to the product.
Jeeli Packaging produces custom paper hang tags for clothing, fashion accessories, retail products and branded packaging. Tags can be developed from your existing artwork or based on the size, material and finishing requirements of your project.
Paper and Material Options
The right paper depends on the look, stiffness, printing and finishing you want to achieve.
Common options include:
- Coated paper for clean printed graphics and detailed artwork
- Uncoated and textured papers for a more tactile appearance
- Kraft paper for a natural paper look
- Black and colored specialty papers for designs using foil, embossing or debossing
- Thicker paperboard when additional stiffness is required
Paper weight should be selected together with the finished tag size and intended use rather than by GSM alone.
If you are looking specifically for a natural paper appearance, see our Custom Kraft Hang Tags for Clothing.
Printing and Finishing Options
Depending on the artwork and paper, custom hang tags can include:
- CMYK or spot-color printing
- Gold, silver or other foil stamping
- Embossing and debossing
- Spot UV
- Matte or soft-touch finishes where suitable
- Die-cut shapes
- Single or multiple tag sets

Size, Hole Position and Attachments
Tag size should leave enough space for the logo, product information, care details, barcode or QR code without making the layout feel crowded.
The hole position also needs to be considered before production, especially when the tag uses a string, ribbon, eyelet or other attachment.
Common attachment options include:
- Cotton or polyester strings
- Waxed cords
- Ribbons
- Metal eyelets
- String with safety pin or suitable fastener
If you are still deciding the finished dimensions, our clothing hang tag size guide explains what to check before choosing a size.
What Should Be Checked Before Production?
Before approving a hang tag for production, it is useful to confirm:
- Finished size and shape
- Paper type and thickness
- Printing colors
- Hole diameter and position
- String or attachment type
- Foil, embossing, debossing or Spot UV areas
- Barcode or QR code readability
- Quantity and packing requirements
Artwork details are easier to correct before production than after the tags have been printed and finished. See our Hang Tag Artwork Checklist for a practical pre-production review.
Choosing the Right Type of Hang Tag
Not every project needs the same tag.
For clothing and apparel projects, see our Custom Clothing Hang Tags. If the design direction is clean and understated, our Custom Minimalist Clothing Hang Tags show another approach.
The final combination of paper, size, printing and finishing should be based on the product, artwork and presentation you want to achieve.
